Outdoor Education & Summer Programs

Outdoor Education

Outdoor Education provides students with a unique opportunity to learn about the natural world, explore ecosystems, work together as a community and enjoy the wonders of nature. Throughout the school year our resourceful teachers take students outdoors to deliver lessons with related content and take advantage of the creek side location of our campus.

Adele also offers a specific Outdoor Ed curriculum enrichment program for 6th Graders in the spring, which focuses on experiential education as well as personal growth and development.

Taught by trained naturalists, the 6th Grade Outdoor Ed curriculum broadly encompasses conservation, ecosystems, diversity, energy, eco-cycles, and environmental education. This classroom in nature employs all the senses to deliver important lessons, develop the whole person and awaken in students an appreciation of the environment and the interdependence of all living and non-living things.

Summer

Summer is a time for exploration, relaxation and self-improvement for young people. In any given week our children are away at camp, volunteering, on a family vacation or completely unscheduled. Finding a balance of structured and unstructured time is important to the developing mind, growing body and the natural adolescent quest for increasing independence.

Our summer programs, offered through the Sonoma Valley School District, the Sonoma County Office of Education, and Athletics at Sonoma Valley High School vary from year to year. Some successful programs offered to our Middle School students in recent summers have included:  culinary arts step-up class, welding step-up class, algebra boot camp, summer academic support, 8th grade travel programs and sports camps for both boys and girls.

We encourage our students and families to find opportunities to exercise mind and body, read for learning and pleasure, and strengthen the bonds of friends and family. Check out our links to summer opportunities and resources.
