Academy: After School Matters!
Adele Harrison Middle School is pleased to announce the
beginning of Adele Harrison Academy:
After School Matters! Our
academy is an after school academic and enrichment intervention program
starting the end of January. The academy
will focus on students who show the need for extra support in Math and Language
Arts. The academic intervention,
occurring on Mondays and Wednesdays, will focus on an Aiming High algebra
support and a career exploration program.
The Sonoma Valley Fund generously funded the enrichment component,
occurring on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The enrichment classes will feature a variety of topics in the Arts,
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), and Life Skills. We are so pleased to continue the
relationship with the Sonoma Valley Fund, which began with their sponsorship of
the augmentation of our 2010 summer school. We hope to build upon the engagement and excitement of the
study trips in the enrichment classes and support foundational Algebra skills
in the academic classes. While a valid California teaching credential is
required for the academic classes, community members are encouraged to apply
for the enrichment classes. The after
school program values community partnership.
While SVUSD certificated teachers have the first opportunity for employment, outside applicants will be considered if necessary starting January 4, 2011. Please see the attached posting for specific details about the posting and application process. Outside applicants also must turn in a certificated job application along with their letter of intent before January 4, 2011. The application is available at svusdca.org on the Human Resources page. Since, a California teaching credential is not a requirement for the after school position, some sections of the application do not apply.
